Ok one of my goals is to step away from so much processed crap and make my own healthy and well balanced meals. I have decided to make small steps toward this. Creating a makeover for each meal and then expanding and expanding on that until I have a huge variety and options to go on. But for now small baby steps is the key :)
So I have decided to look at one of my favorite meals which is oatmeal at breakfast. I love oatmeal it is warm and gooey and you can add different fruit or other things and have a wide variety of flavors. But I always just have the little instant packages of quaker (though I do use the low sugar ones lol) I used to get kashi vanilla which would make my entire kitchen smell so divine. But they don't have kashi oatmeal at my store anymore pfft.
Anyways.... I was reading that steel cut oatmeal is much better for you as it: Steel-cut oats have a lower glycemic index than instant oatmeal (42 vs. 66, respectively), causing a lower spike in insulin levels when consumed
Which is good since I am a diabetic and all :)
But one problem is that I am not confident in the kitchen at all. If I am going to make something I need very clear cut and easy to follow instructions. It seriously took me FOREVER to make my first smoothie because there was just so many different advice and all of it was just sooo different lol.
So I am feeling alittle intimidated by the oatmeal lol. I asked for some advice on the forums so we will see what I get.
Also I am looking to add some more protein to my oatmeal breakfast. I read people adding peanut butter to their oatmeal. and I LOVE peanut butter but it sounds weird to me lol. Perhaps I just have to try it and see. There is also the option of adding walnuts. I could also have a slice or two of turkey bacon perhaps or a glass of milk as well. So we will see.
On another note...Progress pics. I love reading other peoples blogs/posts where they post pics. I love to see that change. It is amazing and gives me such hope and inspiration. When I hit the 20lbs lost mark (which I am just .6lbs away from!) I will take new pics.
My last pics I took were in Jan and I was at 219lbs. So really when I take the new pics it will only be an 8lb difference from those. But I think I look alot different. But then again I always feel skinnier then I look. The mirror lies and then I see a picture and am like OMG I am huge ;( So we will see lol
And lastly I made a motivational collage & put it up as my computers wallpaper. It has images of exercise and yoga and running which I so wanna be able to do. Also some sexy bodies :) A picture of a path which represents the path I am on and also how much I really wanna be active outdoors- hiking and such. I also have images of dresses I wanna wear and some sexy boots.
